PALs Spotlight: Stephanie Schwartz ‘21

What were some of the best parts of being a SOPPS student?
Being a part of a brand new school & the ability to make organizations & build the reputation of the school. We were a close-knit group of classmates & faculty.
How did you get involved as a student?
I was the President of APhA-ASP and Phi Lambda Sigma and a student ambassador.
How did SOPPS prepare you for your chosen field?
There was always a wide range of leadership opportunities that I think helped prepare me professionally in ways that didactics could not. We were also prepared for researching and analyzing journals that I think is very important for this field and can be a factor that sets SOPPS students apart (even though I really did not like doing them in school!)
Is there anyone at SOPPS you would like to thank?
Dean Raju, Amanda Padwa, Emily Leppien, Bennett Doughty and Willie Eggleston.
What advice do you have for current students?
Take advantage of the leadership opportunities and push yourself out of your comfort zone! Network within SOPPS - we have amazing alumni and faculty!
How have your perceptions of the pharmacy field changed since choosing to become a pharmacist?
Although at the time board examinations and residencies seem to be the end-all be-all, they are not! Everyone has their own professional journey and there are so many ways to reach your goals.
Where are you working now?
I’m a Staffing Clinical Pharmacist at Rochester General Hospital.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Adventures with my corgi, concerts, and cheering on the Buffalo Bills.
What would be your dream job (if you’re not already doing it!)
Full-time dog mom.
