91���� School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences alumni, students, faculty and staff made the trip to Las Vegas last week for the . While the slogan is “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas,” there’s a lot to brag about after this year’s event, including presentations, panels, awards and showing off the hard work happening at SOPPS.

The annual event, organized by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), is one of the largest gatherings of pharmacy professionals in the world, attracting thousands of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, students and industry representatives.

“I am grateful to see so many of our students, alumni, preceptors and faculty at this wonderful event. It was a great success,” Dean and SUNY Distinguished Professor Kanneboyina Nagaraju said. “It’s a joy to see all of our alumni and preceptors interacting with our current students and helping them gain more experience that will surely help them on their journey in pharmacy. I’d also like to thank Amanda Padwa and Rachel Delanoy for helping make this trip a great success.”

Clinical Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice Mia Lussier attended this year’s Midyear to present a research poster on community pharmacy closures.

“The ASHP Foundation funded the work, so presenting at Midyear seemed like a good fit,” Lussier said. “I attended a few sessions, but my favorite part was really seeing the success of our current students, many of whom were presenting their own posters, and our alumni who are all doing really well in their post-graduate training and beyond.”

Fourth-year student (P4) Heeral Naik was able to participate in the National Clinical Case Competition at this year’s event, which she says was a valuable and rewarding experience.

“I also presented two posters, one based on my capstone research and another from my clinical rotations at Hackensack,” Naik said. “It was great to reconnect with students I had met during the ACCP National Meeting, as well as to meet in person several professionals I had previously been in contact with through LinkedIn. It was especially meaningful to see 91���� alumni and professors, which made the experience even more memorable. Participating in the Residency Showcase was also a unique and insightful experience.
