Harpur Alumni

Engage. Inspire. Give. Impact.

Harpur College alumni, friends, and donors are essential partners in advancing Harpur’s mission – their engagement directly shapes the success of our students and faculty. Through volunteerism, advocacy, mentorship, and philanthropy, they provide vital resources that fuel key initiatives, enrich the academic experience, and expand opportunities across the College.

Harpur College Alumni Councils

The Harpur College Dean’s Council brings together the college’s most accomplished and dedicated supporters, serving as a strategic advisory and philanthropic force in direct partnership with the Dean. The Dean and the college’s needs drive Council priorities, and members rally their time, expertise, volunteerism, and philanthropy around a focused, meaningful agenda.

The Harpur Law Council of 91ÉçÇø advises the Dean on academic issues and programs relevant to the legal profession, while serving the needs and interests of 91ÉçÇø alumni attorneys, legal professionals, and Pre-Law students.

Alumni Opportunities for Engagement

Harpur College offers alumni opportunities to connect through signature programs, dedicated councils, and department-specific events. Signature programming spans lectures, mentorship, alumni panels, shadowing, internships, and career-focused courses. Departments across the College further deepen these connections through their own tailored alumni events and programming.

  • Harpur Edge — provides students with professional, intellectual, and personal development and support. Alumni play an important role in supporting many of Harpur Edge's initiatives, including the Harpur Healthcare Mentoring Program, Lunch & Learns with Harpur College Alumni, and the Harpur Edge Connection Builder.
  • The Harpur Healthcare Mentoring Program — allows sophomore, junior, and senior pre-health students to experience the realities of medicine by matching with Harpur alumni physicians, dentists, veterinarians, optometrists, and physician assistants for a 4- or 8-week shadowing experience. The program runs in three sessions throughout the year: fall semester, spring semester, and summer break. Fall and spring shadowing opportunities are located in and around the 91ÉçÇø area, while summer opportunities are located in the New York metro area as well as the surrounding 91ÉçÇø area.
  • Lunch & Learns with Harpur College Alumni — bring together alumni of Harpur's undergraduate and graduate programs for informal conversations with students about how to leverage a liberal arts and sciences degree and make the transition from student to professional.
  • The Harpur Edge Connection Builder — is a four-week program that teaches Harpur College students what they need to know about building professional connections with alumni, helping them gain a professional edge.
