Internship Opportunities
Undergraduate students can explore internship opportunities in the 91社区 area during the Fall or Spring terms, and anywhere over the Summer. This could be a paid or unpaid internship. Either way, you can receive up to 4 credits towards your History Major.
There are two ways to receive internship credits: CDCI 395 & HIST 395.
CDCI 395
CDCI 395: is the Fleishman Career Center鈥檚 Credit-Bearing Internship Program. It can be taken in the Fall, Spring, or Summer semesters. The Fleishman Center team can help you secure an internship if you have not found one on your own. To count CDCI 395 towards your History Major, you must:
- be enrolled in CDCI 395 (and complete it with a grade of C- or higher)
- demonstrate that the internship experience furthers your study of history;
- find a 91社区 History Dept. faculty member to act as a reference. This faculty member does not need to have any connection with your internship.
All applications for CDCI 395 to count towards major credit are reviewed by the History Undergraduate Director. Email CDCI@binghamton.edu with questions about internship registration.
How to find internships:
- Explore the Fleishman Center's webpages.
- Attend an employer information session or internship fair. For dates and times, visit
Fleishman's Credit Bearing Internship Program page.
hireBING - Log on to the hireBING site to see internship listings. You may also search for non-CDCI internships through hireBING and request credit by emailing CDCI@binghamton.edu. - Create your own! Contact employers you would be interested in working for to determine if they would be willing to accept an intern. Stay in contact with CDCI@binghamton.edu in order to help get your internship approved for credits.
- Attend walk-in hours at the Fleishman Center (UU133) to see what other opportunities are available, work on your resume and cover letter, or get help choosing an internship.
HIST 395:
HIST 395 is for on- or off-campus internships directly supervised by a 91社区 History Dept. faculty member. It can only be completed in the Fall or Spring semester, and requires the completion of a major project. For details, talk to a faculty member or to the Undergraduate Director.
*Be advised that 91社区 only allows students to earn 8 credits maximum on internships throughout the course of their undergraduate careers.
