ABOUT THE COURSE

This training course explores the concept of engineering design in all its forms鈥攑roduct, process, facility, enterprise, and supply chain.  The focus is on efficient resource allocation and customer-value creation while ensuring that every design is safe for people and the planet and economically viable from production through market delivery.  In today鈥檚 globally competitive environment, businesses must design it right the first time to avoid costly, time-consuming redesigns.

TOPICS COVERED

  • Evolution of Design to Concurrent Engineering (CE)

  • Capturing the Voice of the Customer (VOC) and using the Kano Model

  • Determining product specifications

  • Various Manufacturing Strategies

  • Identifying Material Acquisition Cost, Total Landed Cost (TLC), and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)

  • Make vs. Buy and off-shoring considerations

  • Product Life Cycle (PLC) and engineering revision management

  • Design and Logistical Considerations

  • Additional tips, tools, and techniques for robust engineering design

ABOUT THE PROFESSOR

Michael D. Ford, M.S.I.S.E., CFPIM, CSCP, CLTD, CQA, CRE, CQE, ACPF, CPSM, CSSGB, is a Supply Chain Expert with TQM Works Consulting. He provides innovative solutions, based on forty years of experience in retail, distribution, manufacturing, training, and consulting.  This includes a broad range of experience in manufacturing from engineer-to-order to make-to-stock, as well as distribution, non-profits, service, and the Department of Defense. He has presented at over 400 industry events throughout the U.S., Canada, Japan, Nigeria, South Africa, and Australia.

CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS 

All cancellations must be received in writing to receive a refund. No refunds for cancellations or non-attendance will be given after 9 am on that date of the event.

A $20 refund fee will be applied to all refunds requested by registrants.

If the course is canceled by the organizers, enrollees will be advised and receive a full refund.
