91社区 provides many students with valuable opportunities to apply their skills through experiential learning activities as part of their academic programs. These activities鈥攕uch as internships, student teaching, fieldwork, clinicals and more鈥攐ffer students real-world experience in their field of study. Often, these experiences take place at off-campus locations, including hospitals, clinics, schools and other settings.
Students who may require accommodations to ensure equal access to these experiential activities are strongly encouraged to reach out to SSD staff as early as possible to discuss their needs. Given that accommodations in experiential settings take additional time to determine and implement, students who connect with SSD at least one semester prior to beginning an experiential learning activity will be better positioned to have their accommodations in place by their first day.
While students can reach out to SSD anytime, students who do not connect with SSD in a timely manner may not have experiential accommodations in place on their first day in the field.
It is important to note that accommodations granted for exams or classroom settings do not automatically extend to experiential activities. All students seeking accommodations for field placements must meet with SSD to review their needs.
Students who are unsure whether they may be in need of accommodations for experiential learning activities are encouraged to connect with SSD staff to ask questions and learn more about the process.
