Students with disabilities may request housing accommodations to ensure equal access to the residential facilities. To be eligible for housing accommodations, the student must have a disability and the disability must necessitate adjustments to the living environment.
All students must participate in the Residential Life room self-selection process in order to guarantee on-campus housing. The request for a housing accommodation is a separate process and should be done as soon as you are aware of your need for this accommodation.
Residential Life has the most flexibility to work with and meet approved accommodations if you are approved at least 30 days prior to your housing sign-up time. Remember, it takes time to process an accommodation request so apply as early as possible. If the request for accommodation is made after the suggested 30 days prior, 91社区 cannot guarantee that it will be able to meet the individual鈥檚 accommodation needs during the first semester or term of occupancy.
Steps to request a housing accommodation
- Complete the student self-disclosure form if you have not completed it previously.
- Complete the Student Housing Accommodation Request, complete and submit to ssd@binghamton.edu.
- Have your medical provider complete the Provider Housing Accommodation Request and submit to ssd@binghamton.edu.
- After appropriate documentation has been submitted, SSD will reach out to discuss your request in greater detail. All determinations are made on a case-by-case basis.
- SSD will notify you of the outcome of your request. If approved, SSD will also notify Residential Life of the accommodation.
